The Supreme Court of India is likely to announce its decision on the University Grants Commission (UGC) case on exam guidelines and final year University examinations tomorrow, i.e. August 28, 2020. While talking about the development, Advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava said that there is some delay, however, all has been done. He has also listed out the various steps that have been taken and asked the students to be patient and trust the Apex Court. Advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava has confirmed the same in a tweet. Though it is not clear if the verdict will be announced tomorrow or not, the hope for a speedy verdict is awaited.
"Dear final year friends, Our #UGC matter is not listed even in tomorrow’s Supplementary Cause List. So final order is unlikely to be passed even tomorrow. I understand your stress & request all of you to please take care of yourself. I hope Final Order comes on 28th August," he tweeted.
11 students from across the country had filed a petition challenging the University Grants Commission's guidelines to conduct University final year exams. Following that, 2 separate petitions – one by Yuva Sena on behalf of Maharashtra State’s decision to cancel exams and another by a law student were also filed. The matter was heard in the court over multiple hearings. Final submissions have been made and the decision is now awaited.
