Schools, Colleges to reopen in Kerala from Feb 7, check details

The decision to reopen schools and colleges has been taken considering the decline in total number of active covid cases across the state. 

Schools, Colleges in Kerala to reopen from Feb 7

Kerala government has now given a nod to the reopening of schools for Classes 10 to 12 from February 7, 2022. As per the government notification, schools will reopen physical classes for classes 10, 11 and 12 along with colleges across the state. The offline classes for junior sections and Classes 1 to 9 will be resumed from February 14 onwards. The decision to reopen schools and colleges has been taken considering the decline in total number of active covid cases across the state. 

The decision to reduce the COVID-19 restrictions was taken during a COVID-19 review meeting. The meeting was chaired by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi. To avoid creating any confusion among resumption of offline classes, Kerala Chief Minister’s Office has released an official notice. The release stated, "the classes for 10, 11 and 12th standards and college students will begin from February 7. The classes for children from Class 1 to 9, creche and kindergarten will start from February 14.”

The CMO kerala also informed about the ongoing vaccination drive in the state for the children. The Health Department data on the matter confirmed that a total of 72 per cent of the students in the age group of 15 to 18 years group have been vaccinated so far. The second dose has been administered to 85 per cent of the targeted population, according to the release. With more number of children getting vaccinated against COVID, the government has taken the decision to reopen the schools and colleges in the state.
