School Reopening: Schools in Ghaziabad, Meerut and some other districts of Uttar Pradesh, UP will not be shut anymore due to the problem of Air Pollution in Delhi NCR. According to the information provided by Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board, the order for the closing of educational institutions has been withdrawn on November 17, 2021. The orders have been withdrawn from areas such as Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Meerut, Baghpat, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli and Bulandshahr, the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board informed.

Reports suggest that the Board has not released the exact date but it is possible that offline classes in these areas might now continue. After witnessing that the Air Quality Index, AQI in Delhi NCR deteriorated, schools in Ghaziabad, Meerut, Gautam Buddh Nagar district were asked to shut down. The department also mentioned that schools will continue conducting classes via online mode until the next orders are received on reopening. 

As the problem of air pollution gets serious, the governments took various steps to curb the problem and provide some relief. However, positive outcomes are still awaited. Considering the seriousness of pollution, schools were first asked to shut down in Delhi. The order was followed by schools shutting in 4 districts of Haryana, including Gurugram and Faridabad. Initially, this order was valid until November 17, 2021. However, seeing the worsening situation, schools were asked to close until further orders.

Students and parents are advised to wait further for final orders from schools, before sending their wards back to campus. They are also advised to take all precautions that are necessary for such a situation.
