IITG stands at the 20th position in the list of Top 50 young universities in Chemistry. Read to know more.
The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG) and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) have been listed in the list of 'Top 50 young Universities in Chemistry' in 2019 along with many other institutes. While IIT-G is at the 20th position, IISER Bhopal stands 12th on the list, IISER Pune is at the 14th position, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) at 17th position, IISER Kolkata at 27th position, the University of Hyderabad (UoH) at 33rd position, IISER Thiruvananthapuram at 38th position, and Homi Bhabha National Institute stands at the 39th position.
IITG made it to the list with 17.3 fractional count 2018 and 19 article count 2018 in the subject. The counts of the research output for IIT-G were independently tracked by the Nature Index which tracks the affiliations of high-quality scientific articles. The output share from Chemistry was the highest at 22.08, followed by physical sciences at 8.62 and life sciences at 0.39.
Professor TG Sitharam, Director, IIT Guwahati, said that Research and Development are an integral part of the activities of the Institute and IIT Guwahati conducts world-class research along with its regular academic programmes under all the Departments and the academic Centres.
The premier institute (IITG) is the only IIT to have featured in the list. The list comprises 8 institutes from India, 13 from China, 6 from Australia, 5 from South Korea, 3 from Germany, 2 each from Spain, France, US and one each from Iran, Ireland, Japan, Singapore, Israel, Italy, Sweden, Saudi Arabia and Switzerland.
