IIT JAM 2027 Updates: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur will start Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2027 registration from September 12, 2026 which was earlier scheduled to begin on September 5. Candidates can submit IIT JAM application form 2027 online through official website jam.iitkgp.ac.in. Last date to submit IIT JAM 2027 application form is October 12, 2026. IIT JAM 2027 Registration: What Has Changed?
The major change announced with release of information brochure is revision of IIT JAM registration start date. While earlier schedule mentioned September 5, latest update confirms that IIT JAM application portal will open on September 12, 2026. The last date remains same.
There is no major change in basic IIT JAM registration process. Candidates will continue to register through JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS). Candidates have to provide their name, email ID and active mobile number and create a password. After IIT JAM registration, an Enrollment ID and OTP will be sent to registered email address and mobile number.

The difficulty level of IIT JAM is moderate to tough. The difficulty level for subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics is tougher as compared to the IIT JAM subjects of Economics, Biotechnology and Geology.
If we compare the difficulty level of IIT JAM examination with CUET PG exam, ISI Admission test, NEST exam, IISER Entrance examination, then it will be found that IIT JAM examination is comparetively tougher than the other top colleges/ universities entrance examination.
A score above 75 is considered a good score. 75 marks will help to obtain a rank between 1 and 80. This mark will help to get admission to IIT JAM participating institutes.
JAM 2026 Examination was conducted in eight zones. The names of these eight zones with the list of zone-wise Examination Cities are listed on JAM 2026 exam centres (Probable Examination cities of JAM 2026). Candidates must specify their first, second and third choice of cities at the time of applying for JAM 2026. When the choice of first city is made, then the zone gets determined and the candidates can choose the second and third choice city only from the same zone.
In case, any city in the choices is not allotted due to operational reasons, alternate city will be allotted. Candidates are requested to regularly check JAM 2026 website for updates regarding examination cities, if any.
