IIT JAM 2027: Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur will begin online application process for IIT JAM on September 12, 2026, instead of earlier announced September 5 date. IIT JAM 2027 registration window will remain open until October 12, 2026. Candidates meeting eligibility must complete IIT JAM registration 2027 by visiting official website jam.iitkgp.ac.in.

IIT Kharagpur,Β  organising institute for JAM 2027, has also released information brochure containing details related to eligibility, examination pattern, application process, fees and admission. Candidates will be required to complete IIT JAM 2027 application through JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS).

IIT JAM 2027 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have completed an undergraduate degree or are appearing in final examination of their qualifying degree in 2027 can apply for JAM. The qualifying degree may include programmes such as BA, BSc, BCom, BStat, BMath, BTech, BE or equivalent degrees, subject to the eligibility requirements of the respective admission programme.

For qualifying examination, the minimum aggregate requirement is:

  • General/OBC-NCL candidates: At least 55% marks or 5.5 CGPA/CPI out of 10

  • SC/ST/PwD candidates: At least 50% marks or 5.0 CGPA/CPI out of 10

Candidates who are promoted in their qualifying exam without a marksheet will need to provide an appropriate promotion certificate or other supporting document as proof of meeting minimum educational requirements.

Q: Β  What is difference between IIT JAM qualifying cutoff and admisison cutoff?
A: 

IIT JAM qualifying cutoff is released along with the exam result. It is the minimum mark required to be eligible for the admission process. While the admission cutoff is released after each round of IIT JAM counselling process. It is the opening and closing rank. Students whose JAM rank is between opening and closing rank are offered seat.

Q: Β  What is the cutoff of IIT JAM?

IIT Bombay has released the IIT JAM 2026 cutoff online. There are two types of cutoffs in JAM: qualifying and admission. Both are available online. Candidates whose total marks are above the qualifying cutoff are eligible for the admission process. The authority has released opening and closing rank for counselling round 1 & 2 online.

They should note that qualifying for JAM does not automatically guarantee admission. They must satisfy the specific eligibility and admission requirements of the IIT or participating institute and programme they are applying for.

Documents Required for IIT JAM 2027 Registration

Candidates should keep these documents ready before IIT JAM registration window opens. Official JAM website specifies these important requirements:

  • Class 10 certificate/marksheet

  • A recent colour passport-size photograph

  • Signature

  • Category certificate

  • PwD certificate

Final-year students should also keep their available academic records and qualifying-degree documents ready, as proof of completion will be required according to the admission requirements and prescribed deadlines.

How to Apply for IIT JAM 2027?

Once registration opens, candidates can follow these steps

  • Go to official website jam.iitkgp.ac.in

  • Access JOAPS registration portal

  • Register using email ID and mobile number

  • Create login credentials

  • Fill in personal and academic details

  • Select JAM test paper or papers

  • Select examination-city preferences

  • Upload photograph, signature and applicable certificates

  • Pay application fee online

  • Submit form

  • Download and save confirmation page

IIT JAM 2027 examination will be conducted on February 14, 2027. JAM scores are used for admission to postgraduate programmes in participating IITs and other institutes. The 2027 examination will offer seven test papers, and candidates can select up to two papers, subject to the session combination rules.
