Mumbai University Warns Students against Fake Exam Postponement Circular

Winter Exams will Begin on October 14, Mumbai University has refuted Fake exam cancellation notice

University of Mumbai has warned students and faculty about a fake notice circulating online that claims all upcoming exams are postponed due to “technical difficulties and paper security concerns.” The fake notice claims exams scheduled from October 14 to November 6, 2025, have been deferred to November 6.

Mumbai University through its official X (formerly Twitter) account termed this notice as “FAKE”, urging students, faculty, and affiliated colleges to rely only on official MU website and verified social media channels for updates.

MU tweet reads: “A fabricated circular is being circulated in the name of the University of Mumbai, falsely claiming that all exams have been postponed due to technical difficulties. The University of Mumbai confirms that this notice is FAKE.”

This is not first instance of exam related misinformation, in May 2025, a fake UGC circular claimed cancellation of all exams amid alleged India-Pakistan border tensions.
