NMMSS Application 2026 Last Date Extended: Apply @scholarships.gov.in by Sept 30

The Ministry of Education has extended the last date for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) 2026-27. Students now have extra time to submit their forms on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) in order to apply for the scholarship scheme. According to the latest press release, the new last date for online registration is September 30, 2026. Students who have not filled the NMMSS application form 2026 must fill it at the earliest to avoid last-minute discrepancies. 

The application window first opened on June 1, 2026. However, thousands of candidates have not completed their forms by now. Before submitting the actual form, students have to complete their One-Time Registration (OTR) on the portal. Students must know that selected candidates receive annual financial assistance of INR 12,000.

NMMSS Scholarship Scheme 2026-27 Timeline

Along with the last date for form submission extension, the central government has revised the verification dates. Meritorious students must understand that submission is only the first step. There will be a two-stage security verification process. 

First, the school authorities have to check the data. The deadline for this Institute-level verification (L1-INO) is October 15, 2026. After the school approves it, the application form will move to the area's government offices. The final District-level verification (L2-DNO) must be completed by October 31, 2026. If the officers find any errors, the student must correct them instantly.
