NIOS Opens Registration for Six-Month Bridge Course for BEd Teachers
NIOS launches online registration for a six-month bridge course for BEd-qualified primary teachers, following Supreme Court directives. Apply now at bridge.nios.ac.in.
The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has started accepting online registration for a six-month bridge course for BEd-qualified teachers working in primary schools. The dedicated portal was launched by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on the occasion of the 36th Foundation Day. Registration can be done on the official website at bridge.nios.ac.in portal. This bridge course is mainly for teachers who were appointed as primary teachers with BEd Degree between June 28, 2018, and August 11, 2023.
During the application process, a U-DISE Plus code is mandatory. Also, the applicant's passport size photo, BEd certificate, appointment letter, and a self-declaration certificate certified by the principal must be uploaded. According to the rules, it is mandatory for teachers appointed on the basis of BEd during the said period to complete this course to maintain their eligibility. For technical support, bridgesupport@nios.ac.in can be contacted. The purpose of conducting the course is to train BEd qualified teachers to teach at the primary level.
The Supreme Court had said that BEd degree holders are not fully suitable for primary level (Class 1-5) teaching. The court said that BEd Teachers are better for the secondary level. The Court had directed the NCTE to prepare a special course (bridge course) for such BEd holders. Following the Supreme Court's directives, the NCTE has prepared it. It has been approved by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. This course is being conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).
