As per recommendations of NEP 2020, the Government has notified the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) & its pilot is being conducted from 2023-24 in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) with accreditation of NAAC A and above.

As many as 5000 B.Ed seats remained vacant in the state of Maharashtra alone in the 2023-24 academic year. This year Maharashtra government conducted common admissions for close to 35,000 B.Ed seats across colleges in the state.

Education Ministry has stated that as per the information shared by the Government of Maharashtra, out of a total of 34,830 B.Ed. seats from 477 B.Ed. colleges; 4,785 seats remain vacant in the academic year 2023-24.

While replying to a question on the vacancy of B.Ed seats in the state of Maharashtra, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan informed that the Government of Maharashtra has also informed that in order to ensure maximum utilisation of available seats, interaction programmes were carried out throughout Maharashtra before commencement of centralised admission process for B.Ed. 2023 to create awareness among candidates, parents, institutes and other stakeholders.

Further, an extension of the registration period for B.Ed. course for forty-four days, an extension of the last round of counselling for four days was also given by the Government of Maharashtra to provide opportunities to unadmitted candidates.

As per recommendations of NEP 2020, the Government has notified the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) & its pilot is being conducted from 2023-24 in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) with accreditation of NAAC A and above.

Admission to the ITEP Pilot is through admission tests conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
