UGC launches 'Shodh Chakra' initiative to promote research and help scholars

UGC launches Shodh Chakra for research scholars
The University Grants Commission (UGC) along with the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre has launched the "Shodh Chakra" to help research scholars and their guides or supervisors in their research. UGC chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar launched the Shodh Chakra initiative via virtual mode, today, May 10, 2022, at 10:30 am. Under this initiative, research scholars will get the facility to collect, store, organise and cite their research work.

According to the information available on the official website of INFLIBNET, Shodh Chakra, as a special platform has been established to help research scholars, guides and universities manage the research lifecycle of a research scholar. "It will help researchers to create their profiles and manage their preferences," it said.
The researcher willing to avail the facilities of Shodh Chakra are required to log on the official website, i.e. schakrabeta.inflibnet.ac.in. In order to make the facilities available, the university or institute is required to provide information about their researchers and supervisors to the platform.
Over 3.5 lakh of full-text thesis available on Shodh Chakra
Resources for research scholars to review literature for thesis submission would also be present on the Shodh Chakra platform. It will facilitate interaction between research scholars and guides, work progress tracking and administrative monitoring.
According to UGC, statistics on ongoing research areas in India will also be present on Shodh Chakra platform. There are over 3.5 lakh of the full-text thesis available on the platform to help in the review literature work, and also millions of articles from google scholar, IRINS, Crossref, and Open access platforms. Suggestive journals and upcoming conferences will also be included in the platform.
