Mystory@Heena Mittal

It just started after I completed my graduation. I scored so well in my graduation that I had a chance of getting direct admission to Delhi University for my post graduate course in Botany. Other than that, I got direct admission into one other top life sciences institute of India. In the meantime, I attended one seminar during my undergraduate program in Delhi University and it was about the healthcare sector and courses such as clinical research.

Clinical research was described as a new field of discovery and marketing of drugs for human use (in simplest words which I could understand that time). This little knowledge about this area created a lot of interest in me to pursue further and helped me make up my mind. I was not money oriented and at that time, I didn't even know how much I was going to spend in an undergraduate degree in clinical research and how much I would start earning once I graduate.

Having other direct study options in hand which were even cheaper (by fee structure) didn't stop me either. This was something I started dreaming and thinking of from that very moment onwards when I attended that seminar. I searched various institutions providing this course in Delhi and selected one of the best ones. After I joined, I had to struggle a lot to learn pharmacology which was a new subject for me entirely and of course it was a part of our curriculum. Somehow I always managed to score well. The hectic back to back exam days made me recall those precious and not be forgotten days when I left the comfort of my home and stayed in a paying guest accommodation near my college just to attend regular classes and prevent a daily commute of 30 kms one side.

The course got me more than just familiar with the medical and healthcare industry as I worked closely with established doctors, nurses and other paramedical health care professionals. I evolved both at a personal level as well as professionally. People started knowing me and of me and being a hard worker and a good human being, I became an important part of my industry.

I always tried my best to be sincere and to learn and make the most of my course. Hard work and motivation from parents and my own self paid off as I got selected in my college placements by a very good clinical research organization. After that my learning began in a big way because you tend to do so much more in a practical environment and it proved true in my case as well. My first job deepened my interest and passion in clinical research and provided the push to work harder.

A person’s success rate is always directly proportional to that of his or her interest and passion about the work he or she is doing. So it is important to proceed only in what interests you. Remember, if you are not interested, it is not for you. If you are interested, then success will be definitely yours.
