Some of the recommended books for ACLAT preparation are "Legal Awareness/Legal Reasoning" by Bhardwaj, "Constitution of India" by P.M. Bakshi, and "Analytical Reasoning" by M.K. Pandey. "Quantitative Aptitude for Competitive Exams" by R.S. Aggarwal and "Objective General English" by R.S. Aggarwal are also useful. There is no upper age limit for candidates to get admission to LLM programme through ACLAT. They only need to meet the ACLAT eligibility criteria, crack the entrance and obtain marks equal to or greater than the ACLAT cutoff for admission.

To participate in the ACLAT counselling, candidates need the following documents:
- Class X and Class XII marksheets
- Graduation marksheets of all semesters
- Photo ID proofs, such as Aadhaar Card, Voter ID or Passport
- Caste Certificate (if applicable)
- Category Certificate (if applicable)
- ACLAT admit card
