Aeronautical engineers have less number of opportunities at present in the Indian industry. There are two major employers in DRDO and ISRO both being government agencies. Of course, armed forces also employ some Aeronautical engineers in their maintenance branch but other than this as the Aerospace industry has not grown much the requirement of Aeronautical engineers is also less. On the other hand the civilian air traffic market in India is expanding. The number of passengers is growing at the rate of 15% per annum and so also is the cargo traffic. In view of this, requirement of aircraft maintenance engineers is bound to increase as almost all Airlines are increasing their aircraft strength. Based on the foregoing I would definitely recommend aircraft maintenance engineering as the branch or as the profession to be selected.

I think Aircraft Maintenance Engineering is a very good job in the aviation sector. As we know, India has more aircraft and also Boeing many aircraft. An aircraft is a complex machine which needs a regular maintenance and this maintenance is done by Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AME). Aircraft Maintenance Engineers are responsible for the security, safety, and maintenance of an aircraft. Aircraft Maintenance Engineers can do the job in Indian as well as foreign airlines. So, AME is a great job in terms of scope. To get admission in AME institute there is a famous national level common entrance test through which candidate get admission in DGCA approved AME Institute and the name of this test is Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Common Entrance Test (AME CET 2018).
