The University of Massachusetts Amherst application fee is USD 85 (INR 7,394). To apply, the applicants are required the following application materials:

Undergraduate

  • Common Application School report and official high school transcript
  • Official transcripts from all undergraduate completed college coursework
  • Academic Letter of recommendation

F1 students are eligible to work on-campus as long as they maintain their immigration status. Employment is limited to a total of 20-hours per week when the university is in session. In vacation periods, students can work 20+ hours. Off-campus work can also be done but prior authorization has to be taken from International Programs Office at UMass Amherst.

According to the campus data provided by UMass Amherst, the following is the division of international students among the total enrolled students:

  • From over 24,000 undergraduate students, 7% are international
  • From around 8,000 graduate students, 27% are international graduate students

However, according to the data of Fall 2023, 34% of UMass Amherst graduate students were from outside the US – which is 2,677 students from 101 countries.

It is important for the international students to submit atleast a scanned copy of their transcripts, failing which the application will not be evaluated. Once your admission is confirmed to the university for an MS or PhD course, you can mail or bring the official document to the university a day before your semester begins.
