A 12,000 rank in the JEE Mains exam is enough to get a seat in an NIT. However, you might not get into every NIT.
To get a seat in B.Sc Agriculture, you need to get above 50% marks in CET. There are only around 1,200 seats available. To get into top colleges, you should have a rank below 2,000.

Yes, it's the easiest and very suitable option.
However it is recommended to expand your portfolio by doing bachelor's and master's from different but slightly correlated subjects.
