You can get admission to BTech Marine Engineering without giving the entrance exam at colleges that provide admission considering the Class 12 board exam marks of the students. There are a lot of popular Marine Engg. colleges in India that release cutoffs for merit-based admissions. For example, students belonging to Tamil Nadu can apply for the TNEA counselling that takes place on the basis of Class 12 marks for admission to the BTech Marine Engineering course.
Rest, you can always check for such colleges and then fill out their application forms accordingly before the last date, so you can avoid any last minute hustle.

This will differ from one person to another. For example, if you have put in a lot of effort and studied all the topics given in the syllabus, you might find the exam very easy like a cakewalk. Meanwhile, for a friend of yours, it can turn out to be very difficult to crack, which can be a result of their lack of preparation or performance anxiety.
Also, the difficulty level of the entrance test depends on the previous year student feedback, the number of applicants who've applied this year and the seats available at the top universities.

Here's the basic list of documents that you should definitely have with you for while you're filling the admission application forms of the various BTech Marine Engg. colleges in India
- Class 12th mark sheet with at least 60% marks in PCM and 50% marks in English
- Class 10th mark sheet
- Medical Fitness Certificate
- Valid Identity Proof like Aadhar card, PAN card, Passport
- Migration and Character Certificates (may be required)
- Reserved Category Certificate (if applicable in your case)
- Recent passport size photos
- Photocopies of all the original docs

It is not compulsory to give an entrance exam for admission to the BTech Marine Engineering course admission. A lot of colleges admit students to the course considering their Class 12 marks in the board exams. Having said that, very many popular BTech Marine Engineering colleges in India strictly consider the marks in entrance exams like IMU-CET, JEE Main, AP EAMCET, etc.
So, you should check for the admission process that is followed at your preferred college and then prepare yourself accordingly. You can do this either by visiting their official website or calling at the admission helpdesk number.

The basic eligibility for most of the colleges is to have at least 60% marks in the PCM subjects in Class 12 and a score of 50% in English. Also, medical fitness is an important part of the eligibility for this course. You should be in the best of your health and have good eye vision without any issue of color blindness as per the rules of the maritime industry.
You will have to present a fitness certificate at the time of admission and may have to give a medical test before your admission is confirmed.
