At the undergraduate level, VELS University offers three to four-year B.Tech courses to students in various specialisations. Admission to various courses is based on merit and entrance exam scores. The eligibility criteria for various undergraduate courses including the B.Tech course is 45% to 60%. The deemed university accepts the scores of VEE. The seats are limited for the students, hence apply early for timely admission.

If you want to go in the deck side of the ship, then go for DNS or B.Sc. Nautical Science. And if you want to go for the engine side, then opt for B.Tech Marine engineering. There is scope in all the 3 courses and finally after completing the course you will end up in a ship. DNS is a 1 year Diploma course, after which you will be sailing as a cadet and will be earning in US Dollars. Yes you can change to other branch in second year. But this is possible only if you are purchasing B. Tecg marine engineering in any of the VTU or state approved colleges. But if you are studying in DGSHIPPING approved colleges, then it's not possible. As per your questions I imagine you are studying in State approved University. So, yes you can change.

Yes. He can apply for lateral entry. My college used to offer lateral entry when was affiliated with BITS, Pilani after coming under control of IMU I don't know. You may call TOLANI MARITIME INSTITUTE and ask them directly.
