There is a marks relaxation policy in place for certain categories of students, like the SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories, wherein the colleges usually give them a relaxation of 5% in marks in the eligibility criteria and the entrance exam merit at the time of admission. For example, if a general category student has to score 60% marks in Class 12 to be eligible for admission to the course, a reserved category student has to get 55% marks.
