To start with, you can solve papers which are available online from various sites on the Internet and analyze them for better results in the future. In case you need to start with the basic concepts, you may buy books or watch video lectures as per your convenience.

Go through the complete syllabus and pattern of bank exams.
Start preparing, and daily give minimum 2-3 hours to your preparation.
Utilize your weekends properly.
Daily read newspaper for general awareness.
Improve your vocabulary.
Try to give online mock tests on weekends.
Focus more on your weak areas.

Both CAT and Bank PO exams have similar portion. You can prepare for both simultaneously as the syllabus and paper pattern is same. Study hard for CAT and keep Bank PO as your backup.

There must be a degree with atleast 50% to apply for bank jobs. So, I think open or private degree is not useful for this, better go for regular mode.

During B.Com, a candidate can prepare for banking examinations, SSC if interested for central government jobs and CAT MAT CMAT XAT for pursuing MBA. These are few valid options available. The candidate can also try to give other state based entrance examinations depending on the state to which he/she belongs.

Preparation for a banking position and preparation for MBA CET are two different verticals. Please go through the syllabus for MBA CET mentioned below which should give you a fair idea of what you need to prepare for the exam. MAH-CET Syllabus 2018 is mentioned below:
MAH CET exam will consist of two sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension and Quantitative Aptitude and Logical / Abstract Reasoning. A total of 200 questions have to be attempted in 150 minutes. There's no negative marks for incorrect answers. Here a detailed look at the syllabus:
