BMLT stands for Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Technology. There are about 29 colleges in West Bengal that offer BMLT course in a full-time mode of study. Out of which, 11 are owned by the Private sector and the rest 7 are owned by the Public sector. Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT) is a degree course which deals with the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases with the help of laboratory tests. The duration of this course is 3 years and 6 months. BSc Medical Laboratory Technology is similar to the BMLT course. These two are often interchangeably used as the curriculum for both these courses is almost similar. BMLT is the most sought-after paramedical course in West Bengal. Candidates should fulfil the minimum eligibility requirements for the BMLT course. Those who wish to apply should check the BMLT eligibility criteria given below:
- Applicant must have attained the age of 17 years as of December 31 of the year of admission.
- They must have passed Class 12 or equivalent from a recognised board/institute.
- They must have studied PCB (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) as core subjects during Class 11 and 12.
- They should have scored at least 50% marks in Class 12.
