The preparation time for the BTech Petroleum Engineering entrance exams cannot be said with certainty. To get excellent marks and rank in the entrance test, you should start preparing at least 6 to 8 months before the final exam date so that you have a good amount of time for revision and studying the entire exam syllabus section-wise.
The competition is quite high, especially at top colleges like the IITs, for which you must work extra hard and get excellent marks in the entrance test by preparing well in advance.

The closing rank for BTech and BTech Integrated courses offered at Vikram University ranged between 260935 and 1175542. This was for the General category under the All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, candidates scoring a rank of 70k can easily secure a seat at Vikram University. With this rank, there are fair chances of getting admission, however, since, the cut-offs keep changing year on year, it is advisable to try to score better ranks to increase your chances of getting admission to Vikram University.

To get admission to BTech in CSE at Heritage Institute of Technology, you must attain a rank of 4005 in WBJEE if you belong to the General AI category. The cutoff for BTech in CSE at the institute in 2023 and 2022 were 4261 and 4387. There has been an improvement in the cutoff ranks for admission to CSE specialisations since the past three years.
