In order to be eligible for admission into B.E./B.Tech courses offered by Cape Institute of Technology (CIT), students should have completed their 10+2 course with PCM as the core subjects. The admission is mostly done through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling process, which takes the candidate's 10+2 marks into consideration for allotment of seats.

The eligibility conditions for B.E. / B.Tech at Cape Institute of Technology are that the candidates should have passed 10+2 (HSC) or equivalent from a recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. General category candidates should have a minimum aggregate of 45% marks in these subjects. Admission is on merit through TNEA or CBSE 12th marks. Vocational stream students studying engineering-related subjects are also qualified. Tamil Nadu nativity is usually a must, but it is exempt for children of central government personnel and some other groups.
