Yes, most law departments at private and government law colleges in Chennai do not ask for CLAT exam scores for BA LLB after Class 12. Even the top-ranked Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences  BA LLB course requires Saveetha Admission Test scores if you haven't sat for the CLAT exam. VELS School of Law has no entrance and takes in candidates with 45% or more marks in Class 12 in total.

The most important thing to understand is that JoSAA counselling does not apply to private engineering colleges at all — it strictly manages admissions for premier government-funded institutions only. So if you are targeting private engineering colleges in Chennai like SRM, VIT, or Saveetha, you will have to go through direct admission, which means applying through state-level counselling like TNEA, the college's own entrance test, or management quota seats — all of which are faster but come with much higher fees and less transparency compared to the fully merit-based and government-controlled JoSAA process.

Total ROI = Total Fees vs Expected Salary:

  • Total Fees: INR 9.9 Lakhs (not including hostel fees or security deposit)
  • Average Package: INR 8.60 LPA (Overall)
  • ROI: Break even after little more than 1 year

Though students should not that placements are guaranteed and cost of living, interest, etc. factors must be factored in while choosing their programme.

No, Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship Chennai does not offer direct admissions and does not reserve any seats under special management quota. As such students must get admission purely on merit alone with entrance exam scores such as CAT, XAT, GMAT, etc. being required for admission to the PGDM course.
