Candidates are required to apply and take the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) for admisison to PG Integrated, BVoc and BBA courses. After appearing for the same and qualifying the exam, candidates need to register for admission counselling on the university admission portal. A merit list will then be published to announce the names of all the selected students for admission.

- B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering must range between 16289 and 16987

NIT Agaratala cutoff for M.Tech is based on GATE scores followed by the GATE CCMT Counselling. The GATE 2024 cutoff scores of NIT Agartala based on the first round of GATE 2024 CCMT seat allotment is as follows -
- The maximum GATE cutoff for NIT Agartala was between 500 to 600 and the minimum GATE cutoff ranged from 200 to 300.

NIT Agartala cutoff to BTech Computer Science Engineering is based on JEE Main scores followed by the JoSAA Counselling upto Round 6. Once JoSAA Counselling is over, CSAB Counselling is helf to fill up the remaining seats of NIT Agaratala. JEE Main Round 8, has been released for admission to the BTech courses. As per NIT Agartala JEE Main cutoff 2023, the Round 8 closing rank was 24058 for General category candidates in All India quota for Computer Science Engineering. It is a Central Government University. It runs 16 PG and 38 UG programmes through various Departments, Directorates and Centres within it. All the 25 general and technical colleges within the state are affiliated to Tripura University. Situated on the sprawling 75 acres of land at Suryamaninagar, 10 kilometers south of Agartala.
The NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) ranking for Tripura University is 88.
Even though the NAAC accreditation in 2007 classified it in C+, at present the University has improved its classification to B and is valid up to November 2020.
