If you are talking about M.Tech course, yes IIT-Dhanbad accepts GATE score for the M.Tech course and there is no spot round.

It is tough to get choice branch on that score. It is possible if you want to take admission in bit sindri without getting your choice branch.

You will get BIT-Sindri but the choice branch will probably not be available for you.

BIT Sindri is a very old and reputed institute. Metallurgy branch, as per me, will have bright future since as we look into future great strides are bound to happen this field. So do not worry and take admission if you are getting it.

First of all, you should choose the branch wisely as if you are interested in core electronics, you should opt for ECE at Pondicherry but if you are more in physics related stuff you should go for metallurgy at ISM-Dhanbad instead of NIT-Trichy as ISM-Dhanbad is specially built for branches like metallurgy and mining and is doing good.
