Candidates are selected for an IIT Bhubaneswar course based on scores in the relevant entrance exams. For BTech, scores in JEE Main and Advanced are considered followed by JoSAA counselling. In addition, for MSc - IIT JAM and GATE for M.Tech course. Candidates need to visit the respective exam websites to complete the application process, such as NTA (nta.ac.in) for JEE Main, COAPS for GATE (gate.iitk.ac.in), etc.

BITS Scholarship Endowment Fund is created to provide scholarships to meritorious students with a constrained financial background. The fund aims to create an endowment of INR 2 crore, which shall be invested as a Fixed Deposit and the interest generated shall be used to fund the scholarship.
At present, Merit-Cum-Means Scholarships are awarded to students whose annual family income from all sources is less than INR 8 lakh. The cut-off CGPA for each level is decided every year, however, an approximate number of students receiving the BITS Hyderabad scholarships are mentioned below:
