Yes, the University of Bologna requires IELTS examination score card to prove their proficiency in English language. The score should be atleast 5.5 to 6.5 .
Apart from IELTS, the institute also accepts scores of examinations like TOEFL, Trinity College of London (ISE II), Cambridge First Certificate of English, PTE - Academic, Oxford Online Placement Test . Candidates can appear in either of these examinations to prove their proficiency in English language.

No, the University of Bologna is not free for international students. It does offer many scholarships to international students to support their goals but it is certainly not free of cost . In past year, the institute offered 80 scholarships worth 4500 Eur each and is planning to offer 30 scholarship of 6500 Eur each in the 2025-25 session.
