With about 145 students placed by 12 companies, IMU Kolkata's 2023 placement rate was high (90–95%). The highest package was INR 6 LPA, while the average was INR 5 LPA. Anglo-Eastern, NYK, MOL, and Fleet Management were among the top recruiters.

A written admission exam is used by the university to create a shortlist of applicants. Shortlisted candidates are contacted for counseling and document verification following the conclusion of the selection rounds. In order to confirm their admission, candidates must pay the course fee. In order to apply for the B.Ed programme, candidates must also have completed a their Bachelors with at least 55% aggregate or equivalent.
