Hey

The cutoff ranks for WBJEE JELET for lateral entry at IST obviously vary for different branches, rounds and category. In 2024 JELET Electrical Engineering cut off rank was 5174 and for mechanical engineering opening was 4731 and closing was 5880. This data was for 1st round in general category. This may vary for different years depending on the competition level.

Hope this helps!

The cutoff marks vary as per the entrance one is giving to get a seat in the IST, as well as the branch they are applying for, and the category in which they are applying. For example, the WBJEE 2024 cutoffs for IST general category for CSE were around 71000 in Round 1, and for Electrical Engineering, it was around 35000. For JEE Main, the cutoff ranks can be in the range of  400000-650000 for CSE and around 290000-300000 in Electrical Engineering for the general category. This may vary slightly in different years.

Hope this helps!

There are many routes to join the Institute of Science and Technology ( IST), West Bengal, depending on qualification and preferences. West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is one of such entrance exams where, after appearing, you can participate in counseling and choose IST as your preferred college during choice filling. Other such entrance examinations whose scores IST accepts are JEE Mains, AIJEE. Direct admission is also possible via management quota and foreign students quota. IST also provides lateral entry for the 2nd year, for which you can appear in JELET.

Hope this helps.

Hey,

Getting into Institute of Science and technology ( IST) is moderately easy as compared to top tier government colleges like IITs and there are various aspects to consider this notion. The most prominent one is completion level which is considered moderate as only regional student ( most probably of west bengal or nearby states) are there. Cutoffs are quite relaxed and even the eligibility for 10+2 is only 45%. Moreover good number of seats are available and direct admission is also possible. So if you give your 100%, admission in this institute would be quite easy for you.

Wishing you all the best!

Hey,

IST primarily give admission to students based on their entrance examination ranks. However direct admission provisions are their under two categories. One of them is management quota where students typically need to meet the basic eligibility criteria,   after that merit list and availability of seats plays a role to decide who will get the seat. Another category is NRI/Foreign students, for whom IST provides limited number of seats.

Hope this helps!

The Institute of Science and Technology (IST) is currently accepting applications for the 2025 batch. Admissions in the institute are strictly based on WBJEE, AIJEE, or JELET ranks. The WBJEE has been conducted on 27th April, and results are likely to be announced in June. Whereas for the lateral entry way, the exam under JELET is scheduled for June 15, 2025.

Hope this helps!

The Institute of Science and Technology can be considered an average college. The college has been rated 3 out of 5 for its faculty, course curriculum, infrastructure, and placements. Very few students get placements through the college campus drive, and the infrastructure is also not good. However, the faculty at the college is good.
