The course curriculum is spread across four semesters. The MSc course is only offered in two major specialisations: Physics and Chemistry.

National Institute of Technology Nagaland (also known as NIT Nagaland or NIT Dimapur) is one of the thirty-one NIT Colleges in India. It is among the top institute in North-East to have offered engineering degree. NIT Dimapur has been ranked 151-200 by NIRF 2024 under the 'Engineering' category. Furthermore, the National Institute of Technology Nagaland has also been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

At NIT Nagaland, students are offered two MSc specialisations in Physics and Chemistry at NIT Nagaland. Admission to the MSc programme is based on candidates performance in the qualifying exam i.e. bacheloir’s degree in BSc.
