The Orissa Act 9 of 2009 created the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) Odisha by converting the University College of Engineering (UCE), Burla into a non-affiliating Unitary University. The notification was issued by the Industries Department of the Government of Odisha and went into effect on July 1st, 2009 (see Memo No. IV/TTI-33/2009-8553 and 8564 dtd.10th June 2009).
