The Central University of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry University have placement cells that aim to facilitate job opportunities for their students. However, the Central University of Tamil Nadu has faced some challenges in attracting top companies due to its location in the Thiruvarur district. On the other hand, Pondicherry University has had successful placements, with companies like Wipro, Infosys, and IBM visiting the campus for placements. Therefore, while both institutions have placement cells, Pondicherry University seems to have a stronger track record in terms of placements.

Admission in all categories shall be made subject to fulfilment of the eligibility conditions and in accordance with the provisions contained in the Handbook of Information and Rules for Admission, 2026.

1) 53.5% of the seats in each course shall be treated as belonging to the General Category.
2) 46.5% of seats shall be treated as belonging to the Reserved Category, as per the details given below:
(i) 15% for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes.
(ii) 7.5% for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes.
(iii) 5% for candidates belonging to the Backward Classes

Opening and Closing rank depends on the category and quota of candidates. For JEE Main Round 6 cutoff 2023, the opening rank was 40125 and closing rank was 50701 for the general category candidates under All India quota. Cut off are different when it comes to other categories or female candidates and even domicile of home state. In All India, opening and closing rank for female candidates was 46884 and 54995. Admission to Civil Engineering in NIT Puducherry is based on the scores obtained in the JEE Main entrance exam. Applicants are advised to confirm what category are they applying while checking for cut offs.

NIT Puducherry is an autonomous institution established by government of India in 2009. Its overall rating is 3.4 out of 5. In 2022 NIT Puducherry ranked 136th amongst the engineering colleges in India and 128th in 2023 by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). It is also among the 31 NIts recognised by the government of India as institute of National important. Thus, its ranking is very good.
