Siliguri Institute of Technology commonly referred to by the acronym SIT is classified as a Second Tier Engineering Institute. It is said to be a good institution, with reasonable infrastructures, faculty members as well as placed students but not a standard university college. Tier 1 colleges mainly consist of Colleges like IITs, NITs, and other top-ranked private colleges. SIT however is a good choice for students who would like to pursue the course in engineering education in the North Bengal region. In order to get a seat in B.Tech Civil Engineering at Siliguri Institute of Technology (SIT) via WBJEE, one has to make sure he/she has got a competitive rank. Although there may not be any definite range each year, below are some guidelines general enough:

General Category: Aiming for WBJEE rank between 5,000 and 15,000

Reserved Categories: (SC/ST/OBC) Aiming for rank between 1,500 and 5,000.

In terms of scores they should target

General Category: 120-150 marks out of total 200

Reserved Categories: 100-120 marks

Do remember that these are rough estimates that can change depending on:

- Number of applicants

- Exam difficulty

- Seat availability

A moderate challenge for B.Tech aspirants is what SIT here offers. It is quite good academically to maintain a balance between theory and practice. Assignments, quizzes, and tests are constantly given out as workload distribution among students is normally kept even. The faculty members are good in the sense that they lend their support to students without them hesitating on who to approach upfront.
