B.A. (Hons.) in Political Science - Batch of 2022
Offered by Salesian College, Darjeeling
4.2

Short yet life-changing and thought-provoking experience from 2019 to 2022.
Placements: We were there during the time of the recent coronavirus pandemic, so comparatively, we had fewer students in the college. Justdial company came to recruit. About only 10 classmates went for the internship. Political Science itself did not attract many companies. However, we got to experience our own radio channel, Salesian Radio.
Infrastructure: We got to experience the biggest library in the district, Darjeeling. Even though there was a poor connection, our college provided Wi-Fi facilities. We had a research lab for thesis courses. The canteen had good food available.
Faculty: We had a highly qualified teacher. The quality of teaching was up to the mark, the teachers were hardworking and inspirational, and most teachers were government job aspirants. The relevance of the course was justifiable. Only that the students may not be for industry since it's a Bachelor of Arts. The difficulty for exams was moderate if we committed time, effort, and were responsible. Semester exams were helpful. The pass percentage was 36%. We had about 60 teaching staff.
Other: I chose Political Science since it's analytical as well as timely. International Relations, which was included in our course, was an important tool in today's scenario of world politics. The best things about the course in Political Science were how it prepared students for real-life problems, as well as debates. Political Science, however, needed some improvement in the theoretical part, which made most students not choose it for higher studies. We had an annual sports meet, radio club programmes, Salesian Fest, and National Service Scheme. The Scholarship programme could be enjoyed by students securing more than 70% marks.

It's one of the best colleges in Darjeeling, West Bengal.
Placements: Our college has a very good rate of placements as we get a chance to get placement through our college itself by many companies (not all get). Besides college placement itself, many have achieved great success. Many great personalities, like actor Denny Denzongpa, have passed out from this college.
Infrastructure: About the facilities that our college provides, it has a general library where all the students of all departments can use. It also has its departmental libraries, especially meant for the specific subject, and every department has its own Wi-Fi that students can use.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, supportive, and encouraging. They will help you in every step you wanna take, even if you want to learn about the topics you left out, they will gladly help you. About the semester's exam, others are hard, and you need to study and focus on your course.

College is very nice.
Placements: Up to 70 percent of students got placed from my course. Mostly students go to university after applying to this college and internship depends on your skills and I love this college. The internship depends on our skills. The top roles offered in our college are mostly unknown to me but I believe they provide decent and good placement.
Infrastructure: The facility is good in my college, the library is the best place, it's big and most of the students are present there studying. The infrastructure in our college is huge and beautiful. The food in the canteen is delicious and great and the medical facilities are all available.
Faculty: The teachers are very friendly and good. They teach us so well that we all love to take extra classes from them whenever we are free. The exams are pretty much tough but the teachers' help and guidance always help us bring good results and the teachers are very educated.
Other: I chose this course because it helps me in my further civil exams the subject which I have chosen that is political science.

The college is great if you can afford it.
Placements: 30 percent of students got placed maybe because the majority of the batch was in my course. I don't remember that but I think package offered is 20 LPA. Recruiting companies are Tata Capital, Reliance Group, and many more. 25 percent of students got internships. I don't know about the roles but they had offered a lot of students to be psychologists.
Infrastructure: They have Wi-Fi access and a big park for walking. The light are well maintained for the night walks. The library is also available at any time of the day. There are also medical facilities available 24/7. There is also a basketball court and a badminton court.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is to the point but it varies with the teachers. The course curriculum is relevant and it makes the student ready. The semester exams are difficult but the study matters to pass. Pass percentage is 33 percent.
Other: I chose this course because of my friends. Timing is flexible for classes. Renovation and expansion of the classroom would improve the course. Innovision and Exsure are great events.

Nani Bhattacharya Smarak Mahavidyalaya has a very good collection, especially for arts students.
Placements: I am Hasrat Ansari, and an ex-student of Nani Bhattacharya Smarak Mahavidyalaya. In 2022, I started my first year of college with many other students. My course is B.A. In my college, there are no extra fees except for the exam and registration. There, I met the best teachers of art. They are really good and sweet and always help students. In my batch, we have almost 30 percent of students placed from college. The total package is a minimum of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 for the B.A. course.
Infrastructure: As we are all arts students, we get some facilities like a library and some facilities for other honours, like a lab and a testing room. For sports, we also have a club where we have many assets to play and practice. In our college, we have a canteen in good condition and very clean, and the food items are very healthy and tasty. Our college is very disciplined and clean, and we maintain hygiene.
Faculty: In our college, we have very good and helpful teachers. They are always helping us, specifically during exam time. The quality of teaching is really good. Our college and teachers make many students' lives and allow them to achieve their goals. Our teachers make many engineers, teachers, sportsmen, computer experts, etc. There is no difficulty in the exam, just because of good teaching and the best understanding between teachers and students.
Other: If your goal is to be an arts teacher and a sportsman, a computer expert, etc. Then I recommend visiting Nani Bhattacharya Smarak Mahavidyalaya.

One of the best overall colleges in the mountains.
Placements: The general number of individual placements is high, but the college does not provide direct placement facilities. Although students have a good chance of being selected by multiple companies, the college itself is not directly involved in organizing placements.
Infrastructure: There is a lack of lab infrastructure in the Geography department. Although it is one of the best departments in the college. Other science-related departments have better labs and infrastructure. The hostel facilities for girls are better since there are no hostels for boys. But the girls' hostels are better and provide decent food and structure.
Faculty: The teaching quality is very good. Professors are helpful as well as well-qualified in their respective departments. The college does make students industry-ready by encouraging the teaching of extra subjects that prepare students to face the real world. Exams depend on the student. If a student attends classes regularly and is attentive in lectures, he or she will pass easily.
Other: I chose geography because it is one of the best subjects to study at this college. The geography department here is one of the best in North Bengal.
