U of Houston was founded in 1927 and its primary focus was training future teachers. At the time of establishment, this university was Houston Junior College and the classes were held on the Jacinto High School campus. It became the University of Houston in 1934 and later joined the University of Houston system in 1977. Most of the individual colleges at this university have their own traditions ranging from Frontier Fiesta, Cougar Red Friday, Cougar Sign, and Blessings of the Rings, etc.

Yes, F-1 students with valid -20 issued at UH are allowed to work part time, not more than 20 hours per week, except for school breaks and the student's annual vacation. Students can work part-time on the UH main campus. A few of the part-time jobs that are popular among international students in the U.S. are:
