Living on campus at Whittier College is better. Students are required to live on campus unless they meet the exemption requirements for off-campus housing. If students want to live off campus they also have to fill out financial hardship form. The college has five residence halls some of which are homes to these communities. In a theme community, students live together in a certain section of the residence hall and take part in activities that align with their shared interests on the social, intellectual, and personal fronts. Whittier is located in the uptown area of the city of Whittier, so students like walking around as there are cute cafes. Students mention that there are lots of on-campus activities to keep students engaged. Faculty genuinely care about their students and help connect students with fellowships and internships that will help them obtain professional roles upon graduation.
A student stated that most students live off campus because of the dorm conditions. Concerns regarding the college's financial viability and how it affects resources and programming are raised in certain reports.
