Patnanagar University conducts GBPUAT entrance exam for admission to BSc (Hons) courses. The university also accepts ICAR AIEEA for Agriculture courses. Once the selection process is over for BSc, the university conducts counselling round. The number of counselling rounds will depend on the vacancy of seats. Online counselling for all programmes will be carried out after declaration of results. Aspirants need to pay course fee to confirm their seat in the university.

PhD students at GBPUAT are open to fellowship. Two fellowships in each discipline are to be awarded at INR 6,000 per month based on merit to the eligible students admitted in the discipline for 36 months. If the total number of fellowships thus provided are not utilised due to any valid reasons whatsoever, the university shall be free to redistribute the allocation of the vacant fellowship position and award the same to other students who could not be granted fellowship in the first instance due to the
aforesaid restriction of two fellowships in each discipline.
