No GBPUAT is not a private institution it is a public, state government university which was established in 1960 in Pantnagar Uttarakhand it is recognised as India's first agricultural university functioning as a public land grant university supported by state government.

There are 11 departments under Uttaranchal university Dehradun providing a range of courses to the students. Once the application process begins students need to register on the official site & fill the application form. Uttaranchal University offers BA English under UG level for the duration of 3 years. Students need to pass class 12 or equivalent examination in any stream from any recognised board. Minimum 50% marks in aggregate for general category and 45% marks in aggregate in case of SC/ST category. The admission is based on merit, computed on the basis of marks secured in qualifying examination. University also conducts interviews of all applicants before admitting the eligible students.
