The Regent Education and Research Foundation Group of Institutions, located in South 24 Parganas, is a private establishment accredited by NAAC, receiving a 'B' grade. RERF Kolkata provides a variety of diploma, undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programs in disciplines such as engineering, management, business administration and computer applications. The courses on offer encompass Diploma, B.E./B.Tech, BBA, MBA and MCA programs. Admissions to these courses are determined by merit obtained in entrance and qualifying examinations; however, this process can be quite competitive.

The Institute of Science and Technology can be considered an average college. The college has been rated 3 out of 5 for its faculty, course curriculum, infrastructure, and placements. Very few students get placements through the college campus drive, and the infrastructure is also not good. However, the faculty at the college is good.

No, admissions to any course at Gargi Memorial Institute of Technology are not open currently. The college offers BTech courses only. Admission to the courses is done based on the scores obtained in the JEE Main or the WBJEE exams. Applications for the JEE Main exams generally open in November and February. Applications for the WBJEE exams generally open in January or February. However, direct admissions may be open currently.

Within 45 days following the conclusion of the exams, the semester exam results at Kolkata's Gargi Memorial Institute of Technology (GMIT) are usually released. For example, the Even Semester 2023–24 results were released on September 19, 2024, after tests were administered in May and June of that year. This schedule coincides with the academic calendar, which has exams in November and December and May and June.

The NEET SS 2023 cutoff for M.Ch. Urology admission in West Bengal differed according to the quota and category. For the All India Quota (AIQ), the cut-off score for M.Ch. Urology was approximately 250. The cutoff scores were lowered from the 50th percentile to the 20th percentile for some specializations in 2023

Although WBJEE or JEE Main scores are the main entry requirement, students who have not been accepted through these tests may speak with the college's admission office about direct admission options. Passing the 10+2 test with the necessary topics is a requirement for eligibility.
