Based on IIT Kharagpur NIRF 2024 Overall Report, the median packaged offered to UG students in 2023 stood at INR 24 LPA. In 2022, the median package offered to UG students was INR 18 LPA. This shows that IIT Kharagpur placements witnessed a remarkable hike of 25%.

According to multiple media reports, a total of 700 placement offers were made on the first day of IIT Kharagpur 2024 placements. Further, students of IIT Kharagpur received more than 19 international offers. Importantly, 6 offers with a package of more than INR 1 crore per annum were offered to IIT Kharagpur students. Over 61 companies offered various job roles to students, mainly in Finance, Banking, Analytics, Software, Core Engineering and Consulting sectors.

IIT Kharagpur has a total of 638 seats for its BSc courses. Out of these 638 seats, 15% of the seats are reserved for students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes (ST). Students interested to enroll in BSc courses at IIT Kharagpur are required to appear for the qualifying examination which is JEE Advanced. The registrations is expected to start in April 2026. Deadline will be further notified with release of application form.

Yes, in order to take admission in BSc at IIT Kharagpur, candidates need to appear qualify JEE Advance. JEE Advance or Joint Entrance Examination is conducted by one of the IITs every year by rotation under the supervision of a Joint Admission Board, which comprises of representatives from all the IITs. Interested students must first qualify JEE Mains in order to appear for JEE Advance.
