Yes. For DEED M.Des, a portfolio is important and evaluated as part of entrance process. For DEED B.Des, a portfolio is recommended but may not be mandatory for all rounds.

The subjects included in the first two semesters of the BDes in Communication Design are meant to create a foundational base for the students. Further, from the third semester onwards, the institute offers specialisations in the BDes course. The names of the specialisations are- Graphics, Animation & VFX, UX/ UI, and Game design. Further, the subjects are offered as per the specialisation selected by the student from these mentioned specialisations. Check out the names of the subjects that are common for all specialisations:

The DEED Applications are usually released in the first week of Novemeber on the official website. For the Year 2025, it was released on Novemeber 01, 2025.

The NIFT entrance exam for the BDes Graphic Design course admission is conducted both online and offline. The General Ability Test (GAT) is an online, CBT-based exam. Meanwhile, the Creative Ability Test (CAT) is conducted offline. There's also a Situation Test, conducted as an offline practical exam.

Admission to the BDes in Graphic Design is mostly based on both merit and the entrance exam. It depends on the college that which criteria they opt for. The candidates need to fulfill the eligibility criteria for the course, irrespective of their admission process.
