Common Proficiency Test (CPT) is mandatory for the following:
Students who have qualified Higher Secondary examination. Candidates who possess a bachelor's degree in any discipline. Candidates who hold a master's degree in any discipline.
Candidates who possess any professional qualification.
So, as you can see, Common Proficiency Test is mandatory for every individual willing to pursue Chartered Accountancy course and will remain so unless the proposal is approved by the union government. As per the proposal, commerce graduates with 55% marks in the qualifying examination and non-Commerce graduates with 60% marks or more shall be exempted from the Common Proficiency Test.

You can either pursue M.Com or MBA-finance after your graduation. Alternatively, there are other emerging courses that you can pursue along with your current graduation which include:
1. Certified Bank Manager Programme: A 2-year course covering the areas of banking and financial services, money, banking laws and regulations, treasury, credit, risk management and banking strategy. The course is offered by the Institute of Bank Management and Research (IBMR), Hyderabad. 2. Diploma in Banking & Services (DBFS): This is a post graduate 2-year Diploma course offered by the Institute Of Finance, Banking & Insurance (IFBI), Mumbai. A graduate student in any discipline with minimum 50% marks is eligible for this course, along with a personal interview.
3. Certified Financial Planners: Certified course (6 months to 1 Year) is offered by various institutes: Financial Planning Academy (FPA), Mumbai, BLB Institute of Financial Markets (BIFM), Delhi/NCR, and Indian Institute of Financial Planning (IIFP), Mumbai. Graduates in any discipline are eligible for this course, along with undergraduates and working professional. A CFP certification with specialisation in financial planning, Insurance and Risk Management, Investment Planning, Tax Planning offers great job opportunities for students.
4. Certificate Course in Project Finance: The certificate course in Project Finance is conducted by two institutes in India: Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF) and Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR). It provides advanced skills and practical knowledge in the field of project appraisal, lending, financing, etc.
5. CRISIL Certified Analyst Programme (CCAP): This is a two-year programme, combining coursework, job assignments and interactive seminars, is undertaken by CRISIL, the country's leading Research, Ratings, Risk and Policy Advisory company. Graduates with at least 50% marks and qualifying CAT XAT or CRISIL Aptitude Test are eligible for the course. This course helps students to acquire exceptional financial and business skills.

Hi Abhishek, You can register for the exam by following steps given below:
1. Click on the link given above to register for CA CPT exam.
2. Now go to Login/Register tab and select New User Register Here option.
3. Now, candidates will have to enter details like Student Details, Date of Birth, Examination, registration number (while they registered for CA CPT course), etc. (In case one doesn't have the registration number or any of the registration details provided by the candidate doesn't match with ICAI records, he/she will be offered to register as a provisional candidate. Such candidates can select the option 'YES. Register me as Provisional Candidate' and they will be able to continue their registration as a provisional candidate after being directed to another page. )
4. Finally, check the declaration box and click on 'Register' button to complete your registration. On completion of basic CA CPT registration process, candidates will receive a registration number/login-id and password on their registered mobile number and e-mail-id entered during registration process. Candidates will have to verify their email-id and mobile number by clicking on the link sent by ICAI. After basic registration is complete, candidates could log in to their dashboard using registration number and password.
