Yes, if you want to pursue CA at 12th standard, you must clear CPT (now called foundation course). Otherwise, if you want to pursue CA after graduation then you'll be directly eligible to give IPCC no CPT or foundation course required. Details of same can be found on ICAI.Org.

Hi,
Switching from one course to another is only justified, when you believe that you can perform better in the other course where you are shifting. Taking into consideration the fact that you cleared CPT itself in three attempts, calls for some introspection and checking whether you want to continue with the same field or not. Further switching to CS is also on the same path, just a bit easier (as said by some people). Think wisely, whether you want to continue with CA. If that's a yes, be prepared to accept failures that come along because the rewards are many, when they come to you. Think wisely. All the best.

Hi. Failing in CPT is not the end of the world. If you think you can clear CA, then go for CPT again. Else, directly get into IPCC after your graduation. You can also take non clearing CPT as a wake-up call and leave CA. If that's the case, you have options like CS, CWA, LLB, MBA, etc. You can also prepare for government jobs or get certifications from various bodies which are helpful in jobs.
All the best.

The CPT or Common Proficiency Test was the first level of Chartered Accountancy examinations in India which has been changed to CA Foundation according to ICAI revised scheme. You can give this exam just after 12 board examination and before the announcement of your board results on a progressive basis.
