Aspirants seeking to become a Chartered Accountant should register with the Board of Studies at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for the Common Proficiency Test (CPT). The registration has to be done 60 days prior to appearing for the exam. Candidates can enrol for CPT after passing the class 10 exam itself. Without CPT, you cannot pursue CA programme.

A candidate is required to secure a minimum of 30 per cent marks in each section, and a minimum of 50 per cent marks in aggregate in all the four sections to pass the Common Proficiency Test.

The basic aim behind the test is to check the aptitude for the CA course, you would be undertaking. Some easy and very doable tips for cracking the CA CPT June 2018 test include:
1. Since you need to score at least 30 per cent in all subjects, remember that you need to concentrate on all subjects so that you can qualify the basics for all subjects. This is a recent change because until now the rules were overall than subject wise.

Switching from one course to another is only justified, when you believe that you can perform better in the other course where you are shifting. Taking into consideration the fact that you cleared CPT itself in three attempts, calls for some introspection and checking whether you want to continue with the same field or not. Further switching to CS is also on the same path, just a bit easier (as said by some people). Think wisely, whether you want to continue with CA. If that's a yes, be prepared to accept failures that come along because the rewards are many, when they come to you. Think wisely. All the best.
