As rightly said by Dr. Mohsin Khan (One of our expert's), BDS is called as Bachelor of Dental Surgery but even though you cannot designate your self as Dental Surgeon unless you have Masters Degree i.e MS). So you must have MS to be called as dental surgeon.

Yes, you can practice in Australia after your MDS. You have to clear the exams and documents assessment successfully and get registered yourself with Australia Dental Council to practice in Australia.
