For getting admission in any college you have to pass 12th exam. If you got compartment in chemistry, it means you have failed in Chemistry. You can seek admission only after clearing backlog.

It is difficult to say which course has a better 'scope'. What college you've studied in, how good your portfolio is, the internships you've taken, etc., make a huge difference. Your interests and skill set should be the deciding factor when it comes to choosing a course.

I'm glad you're curious regarding "how" the interior designing course is and I suppose that if you have even thought about it then you must be having some kind of interest in interiors and designing. If you have even a little bit of interest in this field, then you'd enjoy learning about spaces and their relation to design and many other things by pursuing this course.

Also, if you are doing some additional course with interior designing for PG or you are willing to do some kind of job or internship in a period of about 6 months or a year, then you should go for Diploma course and if you are interested in the full time one then I suppose you should opt for degree course of interior designing.

Diploma courses:
Diploma in Interior Design
Diploma in Interior Decoration
Diploma in Interior Design and Architecture
Diploma courses could last anywhere between 1-3 years.
Eligibility criteria: In cases of most of the courses mentioned above, 10+2 passed (any stream) from a recognized board is the minimum educational qualification required.
Some institutes are also known to offer admission to 10th passed students.
Admission process: Reputed institutes follow merit based admission process. Merit marks scored by students in relevant entrance test and board examination are taken into consideration. Seats are allotted to deserving candidates

But there are some colleges which give the facility of admission directly. According to me, it will be better when you go after qualifying entrance test.
