The university's operations are handled by a Board of Directors. Elias N. Bou Saab founded the AUD Dubai in 1995. He still continues to serve as the member of the Governing Board. Other members of the board include Chairman Justin G. Cooper, President Kyle Long, and Vice Chairman Habib Al Mulla.
Long was appointed President in 2019, before giving it up on an interim basis to Dr Lance de Masi in 2023. He again returned as president in 2024.

The American University in Dubai has a very simple application process. To apply for admissions, students need to follow the steps mentioned below.

- Go to the "Apply Now" tab

- Fill all important fields and upload the required documents
- Pay the AUD Dubai Application fee worth INR 10.2 K
- Submit the application

Yes, students can change their course at the American University in Dubai campus. This usually involved transferring credits and the updation of the academic plan. To do this, students would need to request the programme supervisor for the same. One is allowed to transfer a maximum of 50% of their credits.

AUD University Dubai asks for a fee deposit after giving students an admission offer. It is mandatory to pay this deposit to confirm one's seat at the university. The tuition deposit is around AED 5,000 or INR 1.22 Lakhs. Students can pay the deposit either via Flywire or bank transfers.
After paying the deposit, students should keep the receipt for the same. This will be useful during the admission process.

This can be done by either submitting scores for other tests like TOEFL, EmSAT, or English Placement Tests.
