Engineering field is quite saturated. Supply is more in comparison to demand leading to large scale unemployment or under employment of graduate engineers. As you have interest in Economics, you are advised to do BA Hons Economics as it open door of opportunities in both Government and Private sector.

It depends on what country you live in. In Canada and the US, by choosing an Economics degree, you pretty much need at least a Master's degree to be considered an economist. Then, the possibilities are broad. Of course, government will be an obvious choice; academic also, if you're willing to do a PhD, but with a Master, a lot of corporate jobs are now open to you, and maybe you would want to specialize in different areas such as finance, international economics, industrial organization, etc. These are all aspects of economics which are more applied. Economics degree requires you to have maths in 12th. If you didn't had maths go for BBA which is your interest in business. Top colleges which conduct entrances for BBA are:

There are many career opportunities for BA Economics graduates. First of all BA Economics graduates are eligible for all government jobs in central and state government where eligibility criteria is graduation degree. You can evaluate Civil Services, PSC in state, SSC etc. Indian Economic Services is one of the coveted jobs for Economics graduate. Reserve Bank of India also hires Economics graduates.
