The department of MME has laid strong emphasis in helping students acquire practical knowledge. It has played a key role in motivating and assisting students to freely explore the resources and carry out their academic activities. The members of staff have been actively engaged in research and have undertaken research/consultancy projects. These research activities span over wide ranging fields of Welding Metallurgy, Powder Metallurgy, Surface Coatings, Friction based surface modification techniques (FSP, FSW & Friction surfacing), High Temperature Material Applications, Corrosion Metallurgy, Surface Coatings, Biomaterials & Energy Materials and Computational Materials Engineering. • A valid GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) score is often required for admission. Candidates with higher GATE scores are usually given preference.
• Candidates are shortlisted based on their GATE scores. The shortlisting criteria may vary each year based on the number of applicants and the cut-off set by RGUKT.
• Shortlisted candidates are called for counseling, where they must bring original documents for verification. These typically include educational certificates, GATE scorecard, identity proof, and other relevant documents.
• Seats are allotted based on the merit list, availability of seats, and candidate preferences.

IIT Bombay JEE Advanced Cutoff 2024 was released in the form of opening and closing cutoff ranks. Normally, the number of seats is directly proportionate to the Cutoff ranks. Also, it is observed that as the number of applicants increase, the Cutoff rank also increases. IIT Bomby 2024 Cutoff showed that, the number of seats increased in comparison to the last year in a few courses, and increased in a few courses. It also indicates that the competition has been declining in a few courses, while improving in a few.
