San Jose State University does not require GRE scores for admission to some programs, such as the MS Software Engineering, for students with a degree from an ABET-accredited institution. However, GRE scores are required for applicants from other universities. For those submitting GRE scores, the minimum requirements are typically a combined Quantitative and Verbal score of 294 or higher, and an Analytical Writing score of at least 3.0. These scores must come from a single test date and will be considered a critical factor in the evaluation process.

For all other courses, different entrance exams are accepted. Apirants need to pass GATE/ written test or interview for MTech. Candidates can appear for written test or provide score in any of the accepted entrance exams for admission in PhD course.
